Demonstration of Hooked Rugs
The MFAC and the Firehouse Art Gallery are pleased to announce a hooking demonstration taking place at the Firehouse Art Gallery, 81 Naugatuck Avenue, Milford, Ct. on Sunday, October 14, 2007, 1:00 – 4:00p.m.
The Milford Shoreline Hookers, members of the Nutmeg Chapter of ATHA (Association of Traditional Hooker Artists) started their group at the Adult Education Program in the late 1960’s at the Margaret Egan Center in Milford. Heather Morgan and Natalie Kemp are founding members. The group has ten members who meet every Wednesday afternoon at the Margaret Egan Center. New members are welcome, especially young ladies who might wish to learn a new skill for a creative outlet. The Smithsonian Institute has recognized the Traditional hooked rug as an art form on its own merit.
Shown in the picture is Heather Morgan with some of her work.
The Firehouse Art Gallery welcomes the public to this exciting and informative event at no charge. Refreshments will be served.
