Rachael Sage
songstress with a balance of flamboyance and feminity
Rachael
Sage whose music has been described by The Village Voice as
"earthiness, color and emotion," is known for her vibrant performances
that blend vaudevillian kitsch with classically tinged art-pop.
The
Washington Post put it another way. "Rachael Sage, has an inimitable
personal style, a balance of flambyance and feminity." She has been
compared to such artists as Laura Nyro for her gorgeous piano driven
melodies and to Patti Smith for her dynamic poetry and emotional
intensity.
Sage has earned media accolades for her
songwriting talents, including Grand Prize in the John Lennon
Songwriting Contest, the Billboard Songwriting Award and First Prize in
The Lilith Fair Talent Search, She also received the 2005 Outmusic
Award (Best Songwriter) for her work on Ballads & Burlesque. While
on tour in France, her music was discovered by Judy Collins, who
invited her to perform at several of her Wildflower Festivals.
