Eastbound Theatre announces festival auditions June 11 - 12 for Eastbound Summer 2007
Eastbound Theatre, a division of the Milford Fine Arts Council, announces auditions for Eastbound Summer 2007, a festival of one-act plays that will be presented as a part of the New England Arts & Crafts Festival on July 7 and 8.
For the third consecutive year, Eastbound has partnered with SquareWrights, the playwrights' center based in Stratford. Five original shows have been chosen for performance. The program will be presented four times over the course of the festival, and audiences will vote for their favorite play.
Auditions will be held on Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12 at 7 PM at the Margaret Egan Center on Matthew Street in Milford. Roles are available for 10 men and 8 women, including 2 non-speaking male roles, one African American man and one older African American Woman.
The plays are:
The Answer by Vanessa David (1m, 2f) in which a young office worker inadvertently torments her coworkers with her addiction to a new Broadway show.
Lucky Day by Mark Lambeck (1m, 1f) in which a young insurance actuarial finds herself in a life changing conversation with a flamboyant theatrical dresser.
Lunch with Oprah by Jack Rushen (1m, 2f) in which a man has trouble getting a word in as two lunching women revel in their fascination with daytime television.
O, Fortuna by Mary Jane Schaefer (5m, 2f; 2 male roles are non-speaking) in which Caesar's soothsayer is tasked to break the bad news about the Ides of March.
They Call Me Louis (2m, 1f, female and 1 male role are African American) in which a young man finds a sickly old man on the street, only to find that the meeting may not be as random as it seems.
